Generally we talk about the h-index of the author or journal. What is G index? is it similar to h-index?, means the productivity measure of the author/researchers.
If the author having h-index very high, it means author research is very useful/fruitful to society or industry. Infact many IIT faculty having very high h-index (More than 60+).
It helps to make more apparent the difference between authors' respective impacts. The inflated values of the G-Index help to give credit to lowly-cited or non-cited papers while giving credit for highly-cited papers. Introduced in 2006. and debate continues whether G-Index is superior to H-Index. Might not be as widely accepted as H-Index.
The g-index is a well-known index for measuring and comparing the output of scientific researchers, which has been introduced by Leo Egghe in 2006 as an improvement of the Hirsch-index.
