Our research team have conducted a study in the filed of "psychometric". We assessed reliability and validity. For assessment of construct validity, we used exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis (and discriminant and convergent validity). After submission and review by reviewers, one of reviewers has asked PCA instead of EFA.

PCA: tries to give you the minimum number of underlying components that explains variation across observed measures. EFA: tries to give you the best number of factors explaining variation across observed measures - after random variation has been excluded. See Tabachnick and Fidell, "Using multivariate statistics" for more information.
Refer to any articles on reflective and formative approaches for the relationship between indicators (items) and constructs (e.g., Edwards). PCA regards formative approach while EFA regards reflective approach. If you develop a new scale for a construct, PCA would be more appropriate to use.
