I want to solve a 3D wave equations in curved coordinate (for 3D bent rib waveguide) numerically by finite difference method, but I don't know about convenient boundary conditions, which boundary conditions should be applied, Perfect Match Layer or Transparent boundary condition? could anyone help me please?
Depends on what the properties of the boundaries are assumed to be. That the waveguide is bent is irrelevant.
Thanks to your response, but could you please explain your mean more? I want to know about the values of electric field in the boundaries in this kind of waveguide.
our waveguide is dielectric. I should use that in numerical method.
Are you solving a steady or a time-dependent problem? Waves equations are hyperbolic and you can prescribe BCs. only on an initial region properly defined by the characteristic curves (surfaces in 3D). On the other parts of the boundaries, the values are determined from the interior solution.
