To maintain the electrolyte pH, we need to add a buffer in the system of CO2RR. In acidic condition, the hydronium ion acts as a source of HER, while in the basic condition water can be considered a good candidate of proton source. In the meanwhile maintaing pH is another challenge, for which buffer has been added, definitely, this buffer affects the sytem to some extent.
