You have to make two determinations: first quantify the content of N in the whole sample (using the weight of the whole sample).

Then you do the extraction of the soluble N, you estimate it (for this you use the volume of supernatant) and finally:

You get the quotient between the amount N soluble / N total you multiply it by 100 and you get the % of soluble nitrogen
