I have done batch experiments for heavy metal(Cu) and soil. After mixing of heavy metal solution and soil, a sudden change in pH was observed. I want to know why this happens and the mechanism of the pH change?
Further what is Inner sphere and outer sphere in case of soil and heavy metals adsorption. ?????
Most of the heavy metals having more positive ions this positive ions react with soil and reduced the pH of soil.soil absorb metals

As far as i am understanding you have add the solution of metal in soil and pH of soil get change . Change may be due to your solution have you checked ur pH of water in which u have prepared the solution because the pH of genral distilled water never represent 7.0
i am using Artificial rain water, whose pH is 5.8. i want to know about the mechanism of change in pH..
Use USEPA SW-846 Method 9045D to measure soil pH. Then u will know whether it is acidic or alkaline soil. If it has lower pH (even below 4), then u can be sure that the heavy metal solution has higher pH and so when u add the metal soln in the soil, it will definitely try to increase the pH of the overall solution.

If the soil is acidic, then the additions of solutions is simply a matter of dilution of the hydrogen ion concentration in soil by the added water accompanied by an increase in soil pH. Also, the pH of the added heavy metals if alkaline might change soil pH.
Providing that you added deionized water in the form of artificial rain water, such application might increase the concentrations of the soluble heavy metal ions in water, see the equation:M(OH)3+3H+----------M3+ + 3H2O, see consumption of hydrogen in increasing the solubility of heavy metal precipitates followed by successive additions of artificial rain water, which serve in increasing soil pH.
