The Pareto principle states that roughly 80% effects come from 20% causes. Let's make the validation on RG example! I published 18 research items and achieved 594 reads (21st Sept. 2018). My 4 publications (20%) attracted 80% readers. So, in my case, 80/20 rule works! What do you think about that? Please describe the your own experience.
Having gone through the matter several times in several ways, the one thing I can tell you is that there is no meaningful logic to RG scores. They are best ignored over the long term if only for your own mental health!

If you are curious about this kind of thing, you should read a brief classic by Derek de Solla Price, "Little Science, BIG SCIENCE". Evidently it is usual for a few scientists' work to be read most extensively, and a few papers to be read most extensively.
