It does exist in the USA but American laws prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, religion and sex orientation. If someone can prove that he/she is discriminated against, then he/she can sue.

Racial discrimination can be described as a conjuction of actions that cause distinction, exclussion, restriction or preference based on fenotypical characteristics, like the skin color and facial features.

Mexico is one of the countries that has accepted racism as part of it's culture, because since the colonization, there have been several attempts to classify the society for racial motives, and to "purify" the skin color through a "whitening" process.

Recent studies report that our population perceives discrimination as something usual in our country, and that this perception increases with the scolarity, also there are certain correlations with the age, the younger citizens perceive more than the older citizens.

It could be a war factor, but, as the prejudice theories show, it is a developed attitude, linked to the socialization process, and strongly connected with the cultural values, beliefs and perceptions.
