I think the question needs to be elaborated in someway. It differs for a student who is already admitted in a university in comparison with another who is not decided the university yet. That says, the options will be limited by the professors and the resources available. However, for a professor the question will be answered by his expertise. The funding is another important variable here. Anyway, answers by researchers (above) cover most of the hot topics in construction research area.
Construction project generally suffer in planning from the beginning of the projects to execution. Many of the larger projects come across variations, cost and resulting in disputes. Then the time spend to resolve the issues effect the issues in delivery of the project.
i think integration between various stack holders while planning project management is a hurdle and no planners before project manager look into and a resaerch in this area will be also good options
Tshering Tobgyel, AI can and should be studied within the construction industry whether you look at it from an emerging or developed country's context. While most underdeveloped countries do not have the capacity to implement, studies can be directed towards their readiness towards adoption, the institutional framework and support that could be harnessed to drive implementation, and so forth.
Construction management and process design around construction robots on the construction site - how may robots change processes and management and the other way around.
Construction management and process design around construction robots in the off-site (prefabrication, MIC, etc.) context - how may robots change processes and management and the other way around.
Maybe something that relates to data/data-quality or digitization. Also, you can look at the potential of different technologies in creating improvements (in quality, speed, cost, performance or environmental footprint).
I believe that all topics that solve a practical issue and/or provide a theoretical contribution to the body of knowledge on construction management are equivalently important. Recently, there seems to be an increased attention to the use of technology in construction management.
I have read the few suggestions provided by my seniors.
I would encourage you to observe the ff
1. identify a problem
2. read other works in the identified area
3. look up for gaps to strengthen your area of concern
4. rephrase your identified problem into a single sentence question.
I am sure with these points and what others have provided, you should be able to get your central idea.
in any case, we can have further discussions to build your point. my iD; [email protected]. Alll the best, Prof. Gabriel Nani is good at mentorship. Talk to him
is creating a "supply chain logistics & information and knowledge management by using emerging technologies specially for nearly zero energy buildings" a good area to research in a developing country perspective?
Built Environment professionals and researchers often speak to microeconomics of construction industry and hence unilaterally excluded from macroeconomics discourse in their national economies. I am of the opinion that we need not stand aloof but intercalate ourselves by exploring macroeconomics of construction industry in researching into Economics of construction such as Fiscal and monetary policies importance and implication for construction; Public Capital Spending dynamics for Economic growth; Infrastructure development Policy goals for Sustainable Economic development, etc. If our industry will want to go fast and far we must go together with other sectors and not alone.
