Dear colleague
as you know well mixedness is crucial assumption in CSTR reactors.
which hydrodynamic parameter can be used for judging whether a liquid flow is well mixed,
in fact I am trying to break a cfd domain to some cstr cases,
regards
1-For a homogenous reactor concentration is uniform through out the the medium.
2- For hetrogenous reactor the dispersion is uniform in the reactor.
3- In both cases take into account the dead points and retention time of the reactors.
4- check Books on mixer designs.
Hello,
You can calculate a mixing degree by CFD by injecting a Dirac of tracer in the CSTR inlet.. Then you may calculate ABS(1-c(x,y,z)/c_mean). All values in the reactor should be less than x% if you want a mixing efficiency of x%.
Regards
Eric
many many thanks!
virtual rtd seems to be a good way!
