I am trying to perform AGET ATRP in acetonitrile. All of my reagents dissolve extremely well but I cannot find a reducing agent that is soluble. I have tried Tin(II)-ethylhexanoate, and sodium ascorbate with no luck.
Acetonitrile is aprotic. Try something that is small and does not dissociate (organic acid).
cucl2 soluble in acetonitrile [CH3CN]: 1,6 (18°) olnly
you try ammonia liquid [NH3]: soluble
soluble- more than 1gm per 100gm water
Or BF3 like commonly used in 'fatty acid methyl esters (FAME)' for fat and oil GC/FID analysis.
Michael,
BF3 is a reducing agent as it donates protons in the methyl esterification process.
Very good information everyone! I was able to shift my reaction to DMF/anisole and use AIBN resulting in ICAR ATRP vs ARGET ATRP.
I am trying to overexpress a TurboID construct in mouse primary culture cells for validation experiments. Unfortunately the transfection of this construct appears to be killing my cells while...
