Will confocal be a better choice? Can you direct me to article talking about the overview of the same?

Better conventional epifluorescence than confocal fluorescence. Lots easier to use and cheaper. An inverted microscope (Zeiss) together Hamamatsu Photonics camera and acquisition software. Finally you need a filter wheel for two excitation lights.
