I am planning to purchase a new workstation to run a large 2D Plaxis model. I am hesitating between these two processors:

1- Intel® Core™ i7-7700 Processor, 8M Cache, Base freq. 3.60 GHz, max turbo freq. 4.20 GHz

2- Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-1620 v3, 10M Cache, 3.50 GHz

Both these processors have 4 physical cores and 8 threads.

Are there some benchmark tests, from which we can have an idea of the approximate calculation time and the required RAM based on model size (DOF's/nodes) and calculation type (plastic)?

For Plaxis output, I am currently having an Nvidia Quadro k420 2GB installed on a PCI ex16. I usually save a lot of intermediate steps like 200. When I click on the switch to load these intermediate steps, my computer becomes unresponsive for a while (10 seconds) before I can start viewing individual steps. I have an HDD. Can I solve this problem by replacing HDD with SDD or by upgrading my graphic card?
