We know models and frameworks help guide our practice, but also help justify particular practices. For example, Kvale suggests that we consider the following in stages in undertaking interviews:

Article Interviewing as a Data Collection Method: A Critical Review
There are any number of good sources about how to do qualitative interviews (Kvale is more abstract and thus less practical than some others). I recommend Rubin & Rubin, Qualitative interviewing: The art of hearing data.

I thought Talmy & Richards (2011) and Talmy (2010, 2011) provided a helpful starting point.

Apart from Rubin & Rubin (2012), I found Holstein and Gubrium’s (1995, 2003, 2011) model called the active interview to be useful. It advocates viewing what is said in the light of how and in what circumstances it is conveyed. (But of course, dismissing content and just emphasising its underlying process would be “a form of qualitative interview navel gazing” [Mann 2011: 21]!) Likewise, what Brinkmann & Kvale (2015) call active listening seeks to reconcile both thematic and dynamic aspects.

Active listening and active interviewing have already been mentioned. I've often wondered whether, and how feeling plays a part in these processes. There are numerous sources within folkloristics and its fieldwork which I think touch upon aspects such as rapport and trust. I'm thinking particularly of Goldstein's work, also Dundes', or to be a little leftfield maybe even:
