So we use Ethidium bromide to stain our agarose gels for dna extraction and analysis. The software in our gel doc is malfunctioning so we are unable to capture images. So now we are using our smartphones to do it. I have attached a picture below. Problem is the UV bands from the transilluminator keep showing up. This doesn't give us a clean image so that we can look at faint bands for instance.
Is there a cheap filter or polycarbonate piece I can buy, use a screen before capturing images with my smartphone?

I can't advice you to take picture of your BET stained gel with your smartphone, since after you'll have BET traces on it and you'll use it on your face and mouth....dangerous it is for you. or you ask somebody without gloves to take the picture for you.

Your bands so good ,but the problem not in your smartphone ,in your uv instrument must be change the energy or use another uv and use smartphone

Best guess. You could try using a BP590 Orange Bandpass Filter. (http://midopt.com/filters/bp590/) I don't know if you can use it with a cell phone because of glare, but it should work on a point-and-shoot that accepts filters.
