We found a bovel protein bind to U1, U2 and U4 snRNAs rather that U4 and U5 snRNA. Therefore, we predict that it may participate in spliceosome assembly rather than catalytic reaction. If there is a way to demonstrate that it indeed involved in the assembly of the spliceosome
Maybe try to look into the publications, that determined the function of U1-5 snRNAs?
Maybe you could try to observe, whether spliceosome is assembled in WT and ko (as control, you may take protein that is involved in spliceosome catalytic reaction, so the spliceosome should be assembled). I'm not sure, what would work for spliceosome, but maybe FRET or split fluorescent protein attached to separate spliceosome proteins? Maybe even fusing it to various parts of the spliceosome, you could specify at which step of the assembly is your protein required.
