I would be very intersted to hear of any research/practical clinical experience you have had. Particularly what impact you feel there was on overall outcome.
I've just attended a Huckabee course in Essex and biofeedback particularly sEMG seemed v promising and the direction of travel. We do not use it here but I'd be really interested in any research. Huckabee gave details of the device they use and a new software package called BiSSkiT (Biofeedback in Strength and Skill Training) they have developed in NZ (now available) plus results they have achieved.
Yes, I am hoping to gather further information on the BiSSkiT plus a range of other devices (accelerometry, emg, resistance traianing feedback devices). She also spoke in the North yesterday but unfortunately I wasn't able to go - I will look into seeing whether she would be happy for me to access her slides.
Do you use any other feedback devices for dysphagia?
You may already be aware of this, but I thought I'd mention that Sally Archer, who is a speech and language therapist based at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust, did her PhD research on surface EMG biofeedback in dysphagia rehabilitation in acute stroke.
Sally has a ResearchGate profile, but you will also find her contact details on NHS Mail. Her thesis is accessible online through the King's Research Portal at King's College London.
