I'm aware that Biobase is part of the Bioconductor project and that various other packages use it. But what are the functions of this package, and what kind of data do we use it for?

Actually, if you had asked how you should analyse genomic data, then a quick search would have brought you to bioconductor. But you were trying to find the question based on the answer, which seems mighty unusual…
