What exactly caused the Tsunami that has hit the west coast of Java (Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra - Roughly 200 km from Jakarta) on 22nd Dec 2018 @ 9.30 PM (Local Time) - affecting an area between Serang and Pandenglang on the western tip of Java?
This particular Tsunami did NOT originate from the conventional earth-quake (of course, it has lead to an earth-quake registering a magnitude of 4.2) and the first potential reason could be the collapse of the wall of the Anak Krakato volcano into the ocean.
But then,
Eruption of Anak Krakatoa volcano (a volcanically-induced landslide) is the sole reason?
Did the high tides around the full moon accelerate the Tsunami waves?
Did the eruption trigger any under-water/under-sea landslides, which, in turn, lead into Tsunami?
OR
Any other sensitive factor?
What does the time lag (Roughly 3 Hours) - between the peak activity of the above volcano and the Tsunami waves hitting the coast of west-Java and southern-Sumatra - indicate?
It is the repetition of the volcanic Tsunami that happened in 1883 in the same place. Any indication on the frequency of this very rare volcanic Tsunami?
