I'm actually working on the study of the permeability of a polyeletrolyte multilayer film by using cyclic voltammetry. For that reason I'm looking for electroactive coumpounds that could be used in that fashion.
However since this is for an internship and there isn't much budget allocated to this task I'm looking for reasonably expensive molécules.
Thanks for your attention and your answers, I'm interested in the molecules you'd suggest me but also in the papers or publications approaching the subject.

In Grätzel solar cells a mixture of potassiumiodid and iodine is used. Iodine has a strong Color reaction with starch. Iodine and idiod form a postive I3+ Kation, that can reduced electrochmically. Tungsten compounds and Iridium complexes could be other possiblities. A more simple way would be Fe2+/Fe3+ mixtures. The concentrations of These Ions can be changed elctrochemically. Fe2+ forms red complexes, if some Thiocyanat is added.
Thanks for your answer, I'll try using those ions couples, however in my case the size of those could be a problem, as they might be too small .
Would you know of compounds of molecular size that could be used the same way?
In this case, stable complex compounds are worth a try. First potassium ferrocyanide and potassium ferricyanide come to my mind. Iridium, Ruthenium and Rodium form numerous complex compounds as well. I will have a look at the literature, if I find bigger ones...
Alright, I've looked those up and by using them as well as ionic mixture I will be able to try out the voltammetry with several sample's size.
Attached is a link to a paper (at least the Abstract) aboud Iron-polypyridyl, which shows several peaks in cyclic volammetry. Maybe ist helpfull. Co forms a lot of complex compounds as well, by the way.
