2p describes the electronic shell of the atom: 2-> principal quantum number of the electron shell / p -> form of the subshell, angular quantum number or orbital quantum number, respectively.
3/2 & 5/2 spin-orbit coupling between electron subshell momentum and spin of the electron. The 2p3/2 is filled with 4 electrons while the 5/2 has 6 electrons. This defines the intensity ratio of the XPS peaks.

Actually I was wondering about that. In few papers Zn2p5/2 and Zn2p3/2 were used, while in some papers Zn2p3/2 and Zn2p1/2 was used for same peaks. thanks for the correction.
