I am planing to buy some proteins for my experiment, either in solution or in lyophilised powder form. I am confused with what those store website (e.g. sigma) has shown for the packaging size.
For example, a protein sell in sterilised solution (liquid). They sell in three different prices for different packaging size: 10ug, 50ug and 1mg. The concentration of the protein solution is stated as 1.7mg/mL. As the product is a liquid form solution how do i know how many mL there is? What does those packaging weight mean?

this weight is the total amount of protein they offer for each packaging size. As the three sizes have the same concetration it is easy to know how many volume they are offering you.
You just have to uso this formula: volume=weight/concentration
For example for the three packaging size you have written:
10 ug with a concentration of 1.7 mg/ml (ug/ul): volume=10 ug/1.7 ug/ul=5,88 ul
50 ug with a concentration of 1.7 mg/ml: volume=50 ug/1.7 ug/ul=29,4 ul
1 mg with a concentration fo 1.7 mg/ml: volume=1 mg/1.7 mg/ml= 0,588 ml=588 ul
