I am investigating application of Document Management Systems (DMS) in small construction companies in Jordan. In general, small construction companies lack the adoption of effective electronic DMS. What would be an effective choice for DMS that can be effective and useful for the management of documents and information in small size construction contractors?

I will do more research to investigate the requirements of construction companies in more details and if SOHODOX will be the right tool for them.
Thank you very much for your advice Maya Blau. I tried to research about SharePoint and I noticed that it is a large platform that can cover many functions and requirements. I know some large construction organizations which use SharePoint as a Document Management System (DMS) and Knowledge Management System (KMS). I will do more investigation about the requirements of small construction companies and if SharePoint can be a successful DMS for them. Thank you again for your help.
Thank you very much Livia Marangon Duffles Teixeira for your help. I agree with you that the technology is the last step after doing extensive study and analysis of the needs of small construction companies. The next step of may research will be to investigate this.
In general, the construction projects have special characteristics that need to be studied carefully such as the continuous mobilization from one project location to another, the limited time and budgets of projects, the continuous change in the construction staff for each stage of construction, and the need to share and approve documents from multiple parties with different natures and backgrounds such as designers, consultants, clients or owners, project management offices, suppliers, sub-contractors, etc.
