My research investigates certain aesthetic preferences with regard to personality. In my first survey, I used the BFI-2-XS but I believe some questions received almost similar scores from the entire sample. I am now preparing to launch another survey but I am afraid if BFI-2-S would be any better. I have also considered HEXACO but I am not sure about the psychometric properties regarding any of the above in the Egyptian context. On another hand, would you advise another inventory for that (aesthetic preferences) purpose other than the five or six factor inventories? (i.e., PMAI, or Myers-Briggs)?
Obviously one crucial issue is which tests have been properly translated into Arabic, unless you are working solely with a highly-educated sample. Maybe this will be of some help: https://www.cambridgescholars.com/resources/pdfs/978-1-5275-5973-8-sample.pdf
The other big issue is what exactly you are trying to establish. If your focus is on aesthetic interests, then a more in-depth measure of Openness to Experience would make sense. (As a general rule, very short measures like the BFI-2-XS aren't very good; their sole use, in my opinion, is when data are being collected for enormous samples on multiple variables with the intent of running elaborate multivariate analyses. And even then the results are often uninspiring.)
I would not bother with the MBTI.
