Generally speaking , 2014 was not a good year on the international level. Everything about the future is uncertain.I hope ,from the bottom of my heart, that 2015 will not be an exact continuation of 2014 but may carry with it some corrections & modifications for the humans well being.

Our colloquies have already list all the bad of 2014. For us in Greece we had some more: Our pension have been cut 50%. We hope in 2015 to have no more cuts, since otherwise we will have a serious problem!
I would like to repeat Kazantzakis saying: “I hope nothing. I fear nothing. I am free.”
― Nikos Kazantzakis
But there is a lot of fear about 2015, so it seems I am not free!
We had world soccer cup. One month without real work. Before that we were living a dream world. Lots of changes and the real game was a show of curruption. Lots of fancy stadiums, lots of unfinished work in airports. After that we had presidential elections we are not sure who shall be happier if the reelected president or the other candidate who lost the presidency, but does not have giant problem to solve. We are going to have a wonderful year because our people are very creative and as we say in Brazil, "After all God is Brazilian".
This is not a good year at the international level and will remain so in 2015 I am afraid. There are too many people on this small planet. There is too much greed.
I think that Barbara highlighted some good points to seriously think. In 2015 I do not think that all these problems can be solved, realistically my hope is that they have a positive evolution. The wishes of Happy new year for all are mandatory.
Happy new 2015. Let us make a better place for us and for all (Heal the world - Michael Jackson). All that takes is one voice (Barry manilow).
Luke 12:22-26
And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?
The year 2014 will be remembered as a year of global troubles that displayed the cruelty of uncivilized and unlearned mind can be to fellow humans and the sheer absence of ethics and moral values and lack of empathy from members of capital driven upper echelon sections of society.
We witnessed the suffering of millions of humans including children with no fault of their own but because of the savagery of few for reasons of narrowly calculated pinch size benefits of self or of very small group alike. I hope and wish 2015 brings a different world image with all bad things of 2014 disappeared from TV screen and vanished on the ground at every corner of the planet and humans come to a better consciousness of a better world for every human being.
I agree with Barbara. There was lot of health, social and political problems world wide in 2014 which still need cooperation and wise peaceful human solutions in 2015. I hope that wise negotiations in 2015 will finally end military conflicts in Syria, annexed Crimea or IS. All people have basic rights to live happy lives in peace !
I think 2015 will not be different than 2014 if we have not changed. Numbers remain the same with adding 1 doesn't mean things are going better. Our hopes are not always reflection of the reality. We need as scholars to make efforts to influence politicians to stop conflicts and let everyone live peacefully.
All years in recent history (or beyond) continue to showcase the grim realities of wars, troubled economies, poor foreign policies etc. 2014 was especially bad for air disasters, missing flights, outbreak of diseases, growing discontent in the Middle East and Ukraine/Russia.
We can't expect things to change drastically but we can sure pray for more peace and compassion from world leaders and civilians alike, more awareness and more action rather than than just 'talk'. Hope never dies.
As others have pointed out, there have been many unfortunate things around the world during 2014... I really hope that they will not repeat in 2015. I was reading about the 2015 economic forecasts yesterday. The link below is one of the articles, saying that (compared to 2014) 2015 will be slightly better in terms of the world economy... Let's hope other things in life will get better as well.
As I look ahead to the New Year, I’m not entirely sure what it will look like, but I am hopeful that it’ll be a bit organized compared to 2014. No one can go back in time to change what has happened. So I work on may present to make the future better. However, I believe that a happy life isn’t just about achieving goals. To live a life that’s more fulfilling, it’s important for me to make sure I am living according to my values, whether they’re to do with work, achievement, family, health, joy or helping others every single day. I want to live a life that makes me happy, to work not just hard but creatively and effectively, to build wonderful and lasting friendships and to be even happier in the year 2015.
It is the fact rather unfortunate that the New Year 2015 has started under a black cloud .In the days to come we may also receive a favourabal signal however we have to witness natural calamities, accident ,unnatural death & it is very likely that we have witness political turmoils.
Only for academic interest i am to present an article for the likely future picture of 2015 for general information of our viewers
Dear Hashem: Not bad at all (at least in my country). But 2015 will be better, with Happiness and good News, with many RG friends (if possible, like you)!
1. 2014 has been a year of human calamities. I do pray that the world sets its political agenda aside and unites in bring humanity together for peace.
2. I also pray that we learn to keep our religious belief to our personal life and stop shedding each others blood in the name of religion.
3. I pray and earnestly request all colleagues on RG to take up small acts to help the deserving. We may not be able change the world. But we can do plenty in small ways. Sponsor a child's education; stop wasting water at home; conserve electricity at home; drive your car only when you must, use public transport otherwise - there are hundreds of such things that we can do. Please do whatever you can.
If the general behavior from economic, industry, research, politics etc... has been decided and planned in 2014 or before it, 2015 will be managed according to this agenda. However we could hope that human and natural calamities will be avoided, politics should (or will) focus on more justice and human rights and economic be fair with lesser corruption. Hope happiness and success for everyone.
Good or not good we must go through it as best as we can and I start the year with performing poetry. I believe that the spoken word of poetry can help for a higher consciousness which results in a more tolerant community.
While we so proud to witness the research and developments in all fields rising exponentially, a decline in freedoms of expression and justice in many locations of the world is taking place. Huge amounts of conflicts, misunderstandings and ignorance. May the coming 2015 come with rising in developments while having increased peace love compassion freedoms of expression increase in knowledge and true understanding of faith and to be guided to the spiritual straight path.
