I conducted a Constrained Analysis of Principal Coordinates (CAP) to analyse species composition in relation to environmental factors. I found a significant effect and I would like to go deeper by investigating which species contribute more to the explained variance. I thought about using Similarity Percentage analysis (SIMPER), but this method has been criticized because of its sensitivity to species abundance. Has anybody applied this method or renounced to and may explain me the reason?
