I would like to know if the diet of a species corresponds to the food availability in the landscape, or if some food items are over-represented in the diet. Does anyone know a good method? I thought about computing a regression line, which would correspond to an exact fitting between the proportion of the food item in the landscape and in the diet and then calculate deviation thereof. But I am not sure about how to implement this regression line and if a statistical test would be possible afterwards.
