“Housework”, “Food Preparation”, “Personal Service” and many such tasks are usually done by humans. But humans as domestic help are becoming rarer day by day in many parts of the world. Personal robots might be of immense help in many cases. In this context, what do you think about robots as future domestic help?
I think the main problem that prevents a robot revolution is energy. There are impressive examples of robots by Boston Dynamics, but either they carry big battery packs, use an combustion engine, or are leashed to the power grid. Another problem is they are constructed with too much metal. For a mass product, they should have some kind of artificial muscles and should be made of more like plastics and silicone.

If the technology is available and the cost is manageable people will move towards personal robots, but I don't think that is something that will happen anytime soon. The technology is not yet common place and the market still small, in most cases one would be better off with "unskilled" employees than hire a team of highly skilled technicians to operate and maintain these sophisticated robots. Military and industrial interest will drive innovation and eventually the economics of scale will make them more accessible, as seen with drone technology.
As robots continue to augment industries, it makes sense that they will also have an increased presence in our homes. ... Though some people might see robots as just another tool to keep humans isolated from one another (or a technology that will take our jobs), humanistic robots can actually help bring us closer together.
I think these robot would be familiar in the future and it would be used in different aspects of life
People are in need of help in domestic tasks as they get sick and older.

A domestic robot is a type of service robot, an autonomous robot that is primarily used for household chores, but may also be used for education, entertainment or therapy. Indoor robots are in focus. This type of domestic robot does chores around and inside homes. Different kinds include:

The robot can also be configured to go into action at any time of the day.

The main challenge for robots to perform some of the critical tasks, is its humanoid perception ability, it means touching a surface with tactile and similar to a delicate human hand. This is technically related to impedance control, a field of control engineering. For example, a ship hull cleaning robot, if is aggressive against the surface of the ship, then it might cause corrosion over the surface and damage it. There are too many applications like these (as skin surgery), hence if the perception problem is resolved for robots, then too many tasks could be perfectly expected from the robots.
A robot is not only a machine, but also a housekeeper and partner. Robots can help us do things we don't like to do or can't do; besides, they listen to us, know what we need, and interact with us in the same way families do.

thanks for your response. We could not admit that robots do everything that we should do. But there are many families at least in my city, where elderly persons are residing in a house, their offspring are living abroad, paid servants sometimes act as their enemies. By this time a few of the elderly citizens have been brutally killed by their paid servants. In these situations, robots as domestic help might be a good option.

The problem that paid servants sometimes kill their elderly clients, is a social problem related to some social-class conflicts as the wide gap between rich and poor. Even with employing advanced robots for domestic help, this challenge would exist through a burglary of their homes and stealing the expensive robots or at the bad luck even killing the elderly. These social challenges are still existing even with these service robots. And while humans have not been successful to overcome these social challenges, the advent of domestic help robots would similarly fail to resolve the issue. But service robots for domestic help could be a remedy for too many social dilemmas and abuses.
well as beautiful as they look, I am personally a little skeptical about it.. i recently declined a self driving Uber in Europe cos it was wholly automated.. its kinda sounds very sneaky to me.. but i think the whole world will embrace in the long run.

Personal "robots" are already very popular in many urban households: my automatic drip coffee maker brews a pot of coffee for me daily; my microwave oven heats my pre-cooked meals; my Roomba "hoovers" the house; etc, etc. The film "Frank and Robot" illustrates well the quandaries ahead from increasing the algorithmic capacity of artificial intelligence (AI) in our technological devices. I recommend viewing that.

Your idea is great. But when a robot does something, the work standard may be expected to go very close to perfection. Faults and mistakes may almost be eliminated. But that would keep me a little worried. This is because it is due to faults and mistakes that so many researches emerged and so much innovation could be brought in so many fields. In the presence of robots, the chances of those may get eliminated forever.
But having said all these, it is true that the whole world will embrace it in the long run. So your idea can be described as an "inevitable idea".
