First steps are to recognize fiducial marks and reconstitute the flight, with 40% coverage between flight lanes and 60% between successive shots.
Second step is to perform stereoscopy on the useful rectangle and interpret the photos with three dimensional view.
This procedure can be performed digitally or analogically (with analog aerial photography).

An orthophoto is a photograph showing images of objects in their true orthographic positions. Orthophotos are therefore geometrically equivalent to conventional line and symbol planimetric maps which also show true orthographic positions of objects. The major difference between an orthophoto and a map is that an orthophoto is composed of images of features, whereas maps utilize lines and
symbols plotted to scale to depict features.
