Dear all, I am looking for key publications, interesting ideas, possible collaborations in the fields of creativity and/or curiosity development, preferably during school age. Any ideas are welcome!
In addition: research about curiousity, curious behavior, is another question, is part of developmental and comparative-anthropological research, it belongs, for instance, to children's play - and partly to research on innovative behavior.
As far as I can remember, the substantiation from "creative" to "creativity" as a new concept stems from the lecture by J.P. Guilford, 1950, which triggered a great boom in the USA and later in Europe, in intelligence research (because it was said that creativity was a special factor, independent of intelligence), but also in art. There is enough literature on the subject. But this field of research can probably be seen more as historical, new impulses have not been generated by former creativity research in the IT society to my knowledge.

I don't read any recommended link before the speaker isn't able to formulate an own thesis in connection with this recommended link. It is not worth to read the link because often there are said very questionable things. People who recommend links must be in the siiuation to say in details why they think that this link gives a better information.
1) Creativity is enhanced by learning music, a different language or travelling in new places. This might create in our mind new neural networks that could help us discover and see new things.
2) curiosity could be enhanced in schools by increasing the intrinsic motivation of students by getting them involved in active learning activities. The intrinsic motivation is better than the extrinsic motivation because the information learned will be stored in the "long-term" memory and not in the "short-term"memory.
3) I wrote this article trying to quantify the effects of active learning strategies on motivation of students

Another to-be-published Springer book chapter I wrote on analytical framework of creativity and multimodality, includes examples from TV drama House M.D. and movie Casablanca (1942), videos of Gorilla Koko and her creative Gorilla Sign Language (GSL), viral MTV of Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen PPAP Song(2016), graphics and digital arts and “Re-creativity” of a Canto-pop song from social media.
A good way to know what you really want to know is to read widely.

Will you please specify the area of interest. If you are interested in doing collaborative work education, education management, teaching and learning methodologies, we can share the ideas.
Hello Dr. Vleioras, My husband and I with a team of faculty and grad students started doing some research on teaching curiosity at the university and K-12 levels. There really isn't much out there about how one teaches adults or children to be curious. The most recent work that I find valuable has been done by Kashdan. Attached is a curiosity scale developed by this researcher.
If you are interested in collaborating on some research about curiosity, please contact me or my husband Louis S Nadelson. We are both on ResearchGate. My work email is [email protected]
By the way, I notice you work for a medical center. I am a nurse and very interested in curiosity in healthcare education. We are in the analysis phase of some research on nursing educators regarding caring and curiosity. I will be presenting the initial findings next month.
Just have another paper on creativity accepted for a Springer book chapter. See if this will help you. Preprint Creativity and education: Facilitating transfer of learning ...
Thank you all for participating in the discussion! Sorry I did not react earlier, I was back then a newbie in ResearchGate and then had some interesting work-related developments. So, here I am now: Better late than never, right?
Locky Law thank you for the links!
Hein Retter Thank you for this comment. It is interesting that creativity is such a hot topic at the moment but there are only historical accounts on it! Concerning your ideas on sharing links, I more-or-less agree; however, I see that it can be a challenge to also find time to write a message accompanying links, esp. when one thinks that the link is clear...
Salem Elsheltat Thanks!
Zin Eddine Dadach Thank you for your ideas!
Anjay kumar Mishra ... and when I know it, does it stop being creative? Is there a dynamic process that defines what is what?
Bashar Owaid Did you get any interesting insights?
Qazi Naeem Alam I did not have, and still don't have any more specific ideas...
Sandie Nadelson thank you for your input. I plan to develop a research plan in the next months. Are you still available for possible collaborations? In the meantime, I got an academic position.
Bill Lucas Nothing is finalised in my mind, so thanks for the input!
Referring to Charles Sanders Pierce's the wheel of knowledge , the promptitude for action is instinctive and the individuals that are grittier tend to be more curious about the things they do not know. As such, we could say that curiosity is a prerequisite to creativity. Curiosity can inspire us to think creatively and be responsive to our visions.
Creative is a process of nurturing and developing your imagination to allow you and help you “think differently / from a new perspective”. Being able to train your mind to think creatively and creatively will help you innovate, solve problems, create ideas and communicate in new ways. When you think of an open mind, you will become a happier person willing to accept exciting surprises from life.
