I have been read a paper about affect of rice bran in broiler diet. In this paper the authors suggested that rice bran could be used up to 30% in mash for broilers. I use 15 % of this ingredient in finisher diet of broiler.
I see no problems in using 15 % rice bran in a broiler diet. The possible effect will depend on wether you replace a nutritious component by the rice bran or simply add it to an existing formula.
In the first case you might see a noticable response in growth or feed conversion, in the latter the effect will probably less pronounced, as you are merely diluting your diet.
It also depends on the nutrient content of your rice bran
You have to remember that the digestive tract of young broilers is not very well developped so fibre digestion will be very low and that might cause a noticeable effect on the birds.
It looks ok if you are thinking in a poultry organic production systems, in wich the growth is slow and the poultry live in a free range way (feacal dispersion). However for intesive farms some problems may arise due to the excessive level of fiber. Nutrientes and specially micronutrients would be more difficult to be absorbed in the intestinal tract due to the volume of the intestinal contents (fiber volume and nutrients dispersion) and to the higher velocity of the intestinal transit. Further more the higher level of humidity in the litters may cause pathological problems (feet lesions, humid celulitis).
If you use 30% rice bran in mash feed for broilers, it would be very difficult to prepare a balance feed because it will contain high percentage of fibre and will effect in growth . However , depending on the fibre content in rice bran in different country , we can use up to 15 %.
