What could be the possible reasons on the absence of growth of Citrobacter spp. in MacConkey Agar Plate even after incubation for 48 hours?

I can't find any study that could prove that Citrobacter spp. cannot groe on MacConkey, so I am looking for the possible factors that might have affected our result. Our clinical specimen is URINE.
