What could be the possible reason behind difference in doxorubicin release (%) at pH 6.8 between free drug and drug-nanogold conjugate?

I have studied free doxorubicin release at pH 6.8 is always lower. That is what happened in my experiment. However, at the same pH, doxorubicin loaded nanogold released 100% drug in the same time period. I couldn't find reason in the literature. It will be helpful if someone contributes their insight into this.
