Microbe produce many carbon degrading enzymes. However, there is a larger spatial variation observed in Indian marine waters. What biotic and abiotic factor could be contributing to the difference in the distribution pattern?
I would think the availability, amount and type of carbon sources play an important role. Rivers like Zambezi and Indus feed carbon rich waters into the Indian ocean. Currents and winds (monsoon) produce a water shifting system. Water temperature and depth probably predicts the carbon degrading bacterial species.
