Respected Researchers and my fellow colleagues,
I am on the verge of completing my Ph.D. in the field of Microbiology with specific focus on 'Development of Herbal based Bio-protective agents specifically targeting Antibiotic Resistant Nosocomial Pathogens'.
What could be the career options for a herbalist cum microbiologist in today's world where herbal drugs are virtually unacceptable?

I always spread the message that 'Two heads are better than One, so why only to rely on antibiotics as one therapeutic option, when herbals could also do wonders'. But i think people are reluctant to change their minds or may be they are waiting for an antibiotic apocalypse, when no antibiotic will work as a fact of emergence of pan-drug resistant pathogens.
How can i spread this message among both elite as well as rural populations? How can i change the mindset of people? Future of herbal drugs and herbalists/Microbiologists is very bleak....Suggestions are invited ....
If you have a chance to go to the US, try to go to Research Triangle Park in North Carolina (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill). Most of the industrial plant research in the US is there: BASF, Bayer Cropscience, Monsanto, Syngenta etc. Your skills and aspirations may fit this research area.
I completely agree with you, everyone needs a medicine or a drug which can cure a disease in no time but they are missing out the opportunity to completely eradicate the disease. You can come up with a team of several people who are dedicated in this area and can come up with some results which effectively prove that herbal drugs are best suited to cure a disorder.
