I'm on a low budget, which is why i opted for urea because it is supposed to reduce the hydrophobicity of the fibroin protein, but so far I've achieved nothing with it.I In my last attempt, I dipped the two cocoon silks in 9.3 M of urea for 4 hours at a temperature of 60 degrees celsius. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

But why you want to dissolve it ? we usually try to remove sercin without damaging Fibroin . unfortunately Sodium carbonate affects the fibroin peptide linkages affecting strength of the fibroin due to reorientation of the Crystalline and amorphous region . May I know what is the purpose of dissolution of the fibroin ? I am interested in Knowing
silk aquous solution can be prepared by dissolving in calcium chloride : ethanol: water in ratio 1: 2:8.
