What can I take out the phagosomal layer without exacting the other layers after a sucrose gradient fractionation?

The picture below, is from an article of phagosome extraction, however they don’t clearly discuss how to remove the phagosome layer from the sucrose gradient fractionation. please help me, I figure maybe I could pipette this but how do I ensure that other cellular contents aren’t pipetted as well?
