My mother, aged 39, has chronic genetic pancreatitis since at least 15 years. She has known several episodes of severe pain and went through lots of surgery that were unsuccessfull. She had a total pancreactomy in may 2020 followed by months of non-pain. But it came back. Because of the surgery, she has, of course, diabetes. She has also gastroparesis but the doctors seem to think that it is not the origin of pain, althouth they are not sure. Her stomach swells before the arrival of pain, like a 6 months pregnant woman. She evaluates her pain at 10 at day and at 12 on the evening on a scale of 10. To relieve pain, she has lots of medicine like Tramadol and other morphine derivatives. The doctors are searching for the cause of the pain but they cannot find. Her life quality is diminished et she suffers a lot. If you have any leads or articles that could help my mother, I would be grateful.

El dolor pancreatico en una P.Cr. es debido fundamentalmente a la propia fibrosis del pancreas y a la afectacion de las terminaciones nerviosas del área esplacnica.
Muchos enfermos , tras haber sido tratados y habituados a los derivados mórficos, tiene "fantomas" de dolor. Una buena prueba de ello seria hacer una infiltracion de dicha área con una anestesico local bajo control ecografico, y valorar los rsultados. n general los resultados son buenos a corto y largo plazo. Si ello no fuera asi hay que pensar en la dependencia psicologica de los calmantes derivados de la morfina.......

Mohmmed Faris Yes, it is caused by the gastroparesis which she will have to live with it forever. But the pain does not seem to be caused by that and the doctors have no clue where it could come from.
Vicenç Artigas It can't be phantom pain because her belly swells before the arrival of pain, so there is a physiological cause to that.
Please ask a angiotomography to investigate an ischemic syndrom as celiac artery stenosis or a even a neuritic problem
I don´t consider necessary at all to make a total pancreatectomy in cases of chronic pancreatitis
