What kind of hierarchy word? It's not about hierarchy how someone admired in society, nor who has how many smart.
I shall expose what sees as the answer to this question Frederick Turner, an expert in social sciences at the University of Texas (see THE GOD PARTICLE, by Leon Lederman).
"There is, he says, the pyramid of sciences. The base of the pyramid makes mathematics, not because it is more abstract or because it is in some sense better or more loved than other sciences, but because they do not have to rely on any other science, and physics, which is the next layer (or floor) of the pyramid, must, inevitably, to rely on mathematics. Above physics is chemistry that can not do without your support and the support of it is of course, what is beneath it (physics).
If we admit that this is all a big simplification, we can say that physics can without chemistry, because the laws of chemistry are not interested for physics. The next floor is biology, which must rely on good knowledge of the physics and chemistry. Even higher floors of the hierarchy that is pyramid starting to turn and mix all the more difficult to divide. When we get to the physiology, medicine, psychology, it becomes impossible to conclude what is above anything. In the transition areas between the individual science disciplines appear complex of two or more other, such as: mathematical physics, physical chemistry, biophysics ...
This pyramid can be summed up in the opposite way, an old saying: physicists admit only mathematics that is above them, and mathematicians recognized only God that is above them."
