Copper smelting slag should be treated in order to recover valuable (non-ferrous) metals as fully as possible; then the residue can be used in the construction (road) industry, as additives.

Non ferrous and particularly copper slags have at present

limited uses and markets. Efforts to develop new uses

to broaden markets is just beginning.The possibility of turning nonferrous

slag into a profitable commodity rather than

incurring the expense of accumulating unsightly piles

around smelters is an attractive prospect that deserves

greater industry attention. (M. Sánchez; 2013)
