There are no obligations, but accessibility is generally appreciated. Most ideas can be expressed in simple, common language. When complex, little-known, or highly specialized concepts are mentioned, they should be clearly explained, even if taking the time to do so requires cutting back the scope of the presentation. I have often been surprised that even colleagues working in the same field have conflicting understandings of specialized terms. Without clear and explicit definitions, a scholarly conversation can quickly devolve into a sterile semantic discussion. I have found that attempts by groups of specialists to agree on a common theoretical, conceptual, and terminological foundation are rarely successful. This is probably because scholars working in a given field have invested in a particular perspective and mode of discourse, and are unwilling to change course. In spite of the resulting scholarly Babel, contributions can be made and shared by communicating clearly and defining key concepts and terms. As in all intersubjective interactions, the key is to accept diversity, making an effort to comprehend other ways of thinking and verbalizing, and in general maintaining a horizontal perspective to the greatest possible extent.

Fine-tune your presentation in such a way that all in the audience at the conference would fully benefit. Don't rid off the technical jargons but lessen their use or subtly throw light on key ones in literal terms for the non-technical audience. Wish you the best in your presentation!
