The search for nonlinear integrable partial differential systems in four independent variables is a long-standing problem in modern mathematical physics.
The above paper addresses this problem by introducing a class of such systems, which is quite large and apparently was entirely missed in the earlier literature.
To the best of our knowledge, this is the first effective and systematic construction of integrable systems in four independent variables.
