What materials are people willing to pay for and how much more or less in your region of the world? I would love to expand on the study and test as many sustainable materials as possible, hopefully formulating a guide to which material, where and why? What are considered to be accepted and the norm as compared to my own region, when compared to yours?
Article: "Willingness of End Users in Embracing Sustainable Housing in South Africa," provides a comprehensive understanding of South African end-users' willingness to adopt sustainable materials, focusing on their preferences and the levels of investment they are willing to make. The research employed a quantitative approach, collecting data through surveys analysed using SPSS, and emphasised on the socio-economic and socio-cultural status of respondents, their willingness to adopt sustainable homes, and cost comparisons with traditional materials.
Willingness Model: A willingness to adopt sustainable materials in evident, amongst a select few of sustainable materials despite higher costs, with a preference for materials that reduce energy grid dependence (I wonder if it's the same globally). The study also identifies a variety of preferred sustainable building materials, including solar geysers, solar roof tiles, recycled steel, and sheep wool, among others, revealing insights into the market demand for sustainability among South Africans.
