Somehow, we all faced some difficulties to turn our way in our life journey. Decision should be taken to change our path from one point to another, no matter if we think it is a good thing or bad to do so, but in the future you will know this path is better than the one you wanted to have earlier. Thus, what are you most thankful for your scientific position of today and why?

At several decision points in my life, if I had chosen differently from the options available to me I would have ended up in a quite different career. I'm sure some of those could have been equally satisfying or maybe even better than the position I ended up in, and I might've also avoided many hardships along the way — but there's no way of knowing which, if any, would've been better in the end. The only thing I can confidently say is that none of those alternatives would have ended up with me having the particular personal relationships I have now, and those I would not trade for anything.
