Google has failed me. Does anyone have typical (better bad-good-excellent) numbers for the percent recovery of DNA from an ethanol and/or isopropanol precipitation? If it matters, I am using genomic DNA and measure the concentrations using the PicoGreen assay.
If you follow standard EtOH / IPA protocols the precipitation efficiencies are usually fairly high >85%. If you've not performed the procedures before however and are dealing with low amounts of DNA the seeming lack of a pellet can be quite worrying. You can use carrier molecules that both aid precipitation and form a visible pellet. I'm not sure how these might interfere with the Pico Green assay but I guess you could just generate your standard curves with and without the carrier to be sure.
