It is my first time working with L929. I cultured the L929 from stock purchased from ATCC (CCL-1). I observed these large cells amongst the L929 from P0 up to P2. Not sure what it is but when 80% confluent, there was a zone of inhibition around the large cells.
The cells were cultured in T75 flasks.
Media used: MEM (Gibco Cat: 1706036), 10% FBS (Gibco Cat: 26140079), 1% Pen/Strep, 1% Glu.

Does anyone knwo what are those cells?
These are most likely multinucleated giant cells that are described in these cell cultures. The reasons for these might vary with one being the presence of a virus causing cell-cell fusion. Many of these older cell lines contain viruses and why they should be handled carefully, especially those of human origin.
