I am reaching out for assistance regarding the analysis of my plant community survey data, which consists of multiple plot surveys conducted at different sites. Each site contains five plots, but the plot sizes vary across sites. I am seeking guidance on how to correct for the influence of plot size on plant diversity data and would appreciate your insights.
My current approach involves using the specpool function (in R) to estimate plant diversity for each site (using five plots data), with the aim of mitigating the effects of plot size variation. However, I am uncertain about the validity of this method. I would greatly appreciate your expertise in assessing whether this approach is appropriate or if there are alternative methods I should consider for data correction.
Thank you in advance for any guidance and suggestions you can provide. Your assistance will be invaluable in improving the accuracy and interpretation of my plant diversity data.
Sincerely, Hao Xi
