Faculties are involved in teaching and research. Research is generally assessed and quantified interms of publication, citations, h index and patents. Number of papers published is generally one of the criteria of appraisal/promotion/ recruitment process.

There are faculties who are involved in solving socially relevant problems. They work on social problems which need S&T intervention. They work with villagers, slums and under privileged people. Some faculties are passionate to work for science popularization, bridging gap between school and college students, augmenting grass root innovation.......

Unfortunately such workers can not publish their work in so called 'Standard' or 'High impact' factor journals.

My questions is what can be tangible method of assessing such contributions of faculties?
