Agreed with You guys. I'd just say that it mimics odontogenesis process, where Hertwig's epithelial sheath forms the shape of the future root and initiates undifferentiated cells to create periodontal tissues. Starting with cementum (that's the reason of its inclusion to periodontal tissues)

emodogain as an enamel matrix derivative has been used to lead to attachment of the gingiva to the teeth as opposed to long junctional  epithelium
