I fully agree. Infact I suffered of this, when my fruit was adorned with a sprinkle of common salt ( just once) and my BP was up by around 20 / 25 points (upper/ lower- Diabolic / systolic) for around a week. This was monitored at different times. places, cities.
The effect subsided over a week .

Jack Silver, It is true, but reasons may be different... when the ice is mixed with common salt the temperature of ice drops. This causes super cooling. Usage seen/ happens in ice cream machines.
Ice used on dead bodies ( stored till cremation), also gets salt for the same purpose.
Could you elaborate why and how does salt facilitate removal of ice from sidewalks?
